Reliable Quadriceps Tendon reconstruction
Quadriceps tendon repair with strong 30 mm broad Poly-Tape implant
Extensor mechanism tendon rupture is a debilitating and relatively infrequent injury, calling for prompt treatment.
Reconstruction with Poly-Tape offers a simple solution using “off-the-shelf” components that allows rapid mobilisation for rehabilitation. It is a well-tried technique, with several published clinical studies all showing good functional outcome.

Studies have been published since 2008 treating a total of 88 knees for either patellar tendon or quadriceps tendon rupture with good functional outcomes. The earliest study used 20 mm tape, currently 30 mm tape is used. A Clinical Summary is available.

1. The Poly-Tape is passed transversely through the proximal end of the patellar tendon
2. Both ends of the Poly-Tape are proximally crossed anterior to the patella
3. The Poly-Tape is passed through the quadriceps tendon
4. The proximal ends of the Poly-Tape are knotted
5. Tacking sutures are used to stabilize the Poly-Tape

The technique uses a 30 mm width Poly-Tape and probes to pass the tape through soft tissue.
